We are excited about this new communication tool, as it will allow staff the ability to keep this site up to date, and to inform citizens of upcoming events in a timely manner. Ken Gfeller has been hosting a website for the town for several years, and has donated his time to update this site, when necessary. Thank you for all of your hard work Ken!! The Town of Keenesburg will be conducting a municipal election on April 6, 2010. The candidates for the Board of Trustees are Steven Brandt, Sandra Beach, Richard Traxler, and Carl Fredrickson, and for Mayor Danny R. Kipp is running unopposed. In addition to the offices available the Town of Keenesburg has placed a mill levy increase question on the ballot. The results of this election will not be available in time for the mailing of this newsletter, however the results can be obtained after the count has been completed on Tuesday evening and the results will be posted in the window as well as on the website. There are many people who have not yet licensed their dogs. Please remember that dog licenses are an annual event, please keep your dog licenses current! This helps staff to locate owners if your pet happens to stray. The Town of Keenesburg will be holding its annual rabies clinic on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 9 a.m.-12p.m. Mark your calendars for this event! There will be a hunters safety course taking place on May1-2,2010 at the Keenesburg Fire Hall. This course is sponsored by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and is offered free of charge. PUBLIC WORKS REPORT FOR APRIL, 2010 The new park restrooms have been cleaned for the spring and summer season. The restrooms will be opened at 8:00 AM every morning, and be closed at 3:30 pm daily unless requested to be open for an event. Some of you may have noticed that the old park restrooms have undergone some change. We have removed the toilets and sinks from this facility to make room for a storage shed for park maintenance equipment such as mowers, weed eaters etc. We have teamed up with Chris Berendes, Plant Manager for ERO-GUARD, he will be making barley barges for the wastewater ponds. These barley rolls are very efficient and easy to install to ensure ultimate treatment for the ponds. Chris has adapted his machines to make these barges at a very reasonable price. The RE-3J pipeline has been completed to the complex of Weld Central High School. Aisa Civil Engineering has done a great job on the project, and foreman Joe Barger has kept us up to date on every detail of the project. Marc D. Sirios will attend a Hazardous Operations Seminar on April 6, 2010 to continue training and educational credits to maintain licensing for water treatment for the town. The town board has approved the purchase of two new basketball goals for Schey Park. The old goals were literally falling apart and posed a danger to those who were using them. With the usual odd spring weather conditions in Colorado, We have diligently kept an eye on the ever changing chlorine residuals. This time of year has a real effect on residuals due to changing temperatures and varying water use. We check residuals twice daily to make any needed adjustments. Public Works-Town of Keenesburg |
