This group meets on a bi-monthly basis to discuss topics that affect all of us; these surrounding communities include Brighton, Eaton, Evans, Fort Lupton, Garden City, Gilcrest, Greeley, Kersey, LaSalle, Milliken, and Platteville. The Town of Keenesburg in cooperation with the High Plains Library District is discussing the creation of a public computer center. The center will be located at Town Hall at 140 South main Street, Keenesburg, CO 80643. Users must obtain a library card to have access to the computers, and reservations while not required will be available. There are many details that must be worked out prior to the opening. Please stay tuned to this newsletter as plans progress. Allstate Permit Services has been busy contacting homeowners in town. They represent Seitel Data, Ltd and are working to complete seismic testing in this region of Weld County, to help identify oil and gas beneath the surface. This process will not involve any digging and or drilling. The process by which they will accomplish this consists of a truck that pounds the ground to send the sound waves into the earth this truck will be using the town’s streets, a cord will be laid across your property (with your permission and a signed permit) and that will allow them to gather the information that they seek. As per the Town of Keenesburg 2011 budget, we have already made several capital purchases. The newest addition to our equipment is a 2007 Komatsu Backhoe, that was purchased on January 19, 2011 for the amount of $39,000.00. We have also added three fire proof file cabinets, two for the office, and one for the shop. These were purchased using craigslist at a considerable savings, $150.00 each. We have also added two new dog kennels to ensure that our furry guest do not escape! PUBLIC WORKS REPORT- FEBRUARY, 2011
Connell Resources, Inc. has begun construction on the wastewater expansion project. Please be aware that there will be an increase in traffic through town for the duration of the project. Mayor Kipp has worked long and hard hauling dirt for the project in an effort to keep the cost down. We extend our gratitude to Coors Energy for the use of their scraper. Please be cognizant of the temperatures and the comfort and well being of your animals. Make sure that there is adequate protection from the elements to keep your animals safe. There have been some complaints about trash and debris being left in front of homes. Please make sure to remove any items or trash or debris that may have piled up and do not leave it for any extended time in front or behind your property. Thank you. Stay warm and have a great February!
