January Meeting Schedule: Monday, January 9, 2012 Finance Committee Meeting @ 3:30 p.m. @ Town Hall Thursday, January 12, 2012 Planning Commission meeting @ 7:00 p.m. @ Town Hall Tuesday, January 17, 2012 Board of Trustees Meeting @ 7:00 p.m. @ Town Hall The new truck is here! Chesapeake Oil Company donated a 2008 Chevy Silverado pick up truck to the town on December 20, 2011, John Dill, Director of Corporate Development, and Kelsey Campbell, Coordinator of Corporate Development were both on hand for the presentation. We are excited about this new addition to the town’s vehicles! The Town of Keenesburg also received 10 acres of land directly to the east of Hoff Elementary School, that was generously donated by Mr. Bruce Sparrow. The town plans to keep this land as open space and eventually a park for everyone to enjoy! The Town of Keenesburg is extremely grateful for the many generous donations, and the overwhelming community support. We have received an abundance of blessings this holiday season! The Keenesburg Chamber of Commerce is seeking interested parties to serve on an events committee. Ideally this committee will consist of a member of the Chamber, someone from the town, a member of the SE Weld Fair Assn, members of area Churches, Lions Club, American Legion, and any other organizations or interested parties. The goal of this group will be to communicate between the organizations for upcoming events to avoid excessive overlaps to assure that these events are well attended, and to provide additional advertising through websites. Once events have been planned for 2012 they can then be published on each organizations website. We are seeking volunteers to serve on this committee. If interested please contact Pat Cooke, President of the Keenesburg Area Chamber of Commerce, at 303-732-4009. The New Year will bring election time to the Town of Keenesburg. There are three openings on the Board of Trustees, and the position of Mayor. We have rescheduled an information session for Monday January 23, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at town hall 140 S. Main Street. Please contact Debbie at town hall to reserve your space. Election day will be Tuesday, April 3, 2012. We had a large snowstorm this past week just before Christmas, the camaraderie of the community shined during this storm. Thank you to everyone who pitched in to help plow the streets, and for all the hard work by the public works department for their efforts to keep the streets clear so that everyone was able to get around town. Kudos to Marc Johns, and Tony Zimbelman! And we wish to extend a special thank you to Fred Bell who kept the town hall sidewalk clear the entire day! Fred is a selfless individual who always keeps the sidewalk at town hall clear and many other sidewalks up and down main street!
