The Town of Keenesburg in cooperation with the High Plains Library District has entered into an agreement for the creation of a public computer center.  The center is located at Town Hall at 140 South Main Street, Keenesburg, CO  80643.  The Center is now open!!Users must obtain a library card to have access to the computers, and reservations while not required will be available.  The computer center hours are Mon/Wed  12:00 p.m.—4:00 p.m. and Tues/Thurs 6:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.  We will be holding a grand opening for our new computer center on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 from 11:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m.  Please mark your calendars and plan to attend, we will be serving hot dogs, chips and drinks!  

The Hudson Public Library will host a genealogy program on Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 10:30 a.m.—12:00 p.m.  Class size will be limited to six people, please call the library at 303-536-4550 to sign up.  The annual book sale is in progress please stop and take a look.  Hours: M-T-TH-FR 10-6 Wed 10-7, and Sat 9-2 

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is presenting a Hunter’s Safety Course on May 14-15 at the Southeast Weld Fire Protection District Station # 1 located at 65 W. Gandy Ave from 8-5.  Please contact Wildlife Manager,  Chris Mettenbrink, at 970-472-4405 to register for this class.  Class size is limited so be sure to register early.

The Southeast Fire Protection District will begin fire inspections at area businesses in the near future.  These inspections will help merchants identify safety steps that can be taken to protect their property from fire losses. 

The Town of Keenesburg and Dr. Don Hyde will host a Rabies Clinic to be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 9-12 p.m. at the Town Shop located at the South end of Lambert Street where it intersects with Joshua Street.  Rabies shots will be $10.00, additional vaccinations will be available and prices will be quoted based upon your needs.  The Town of Keenesburg will have dog licenses available as well.   

PUBLIC WORKS REPORT-MAY 2011

                The waste treatment up grade has been completed!  We will now begin the permitting process for the closure of the old ponds and once they have dried up and have been cleaned out, at some point they will be filled in.

The fire hydrant cap painting and numbering project has also been completed.  All fire hydrants in the Town of Keenesburg have been painted according to their PSI as requested by the Southeast Weld Fire Protection District.  We also have a good start on painting the curbs red by the hydrants and will finish up this task as time permits.  The weed season has begun, and we will be spraying and mowing to keep ahead of the growth.

The park has begun its new season with the addition of ten new trees, and new bushes are being added every day as we work diligently to complete this landscaping project to enhance the beauty of our park.
