We have had many complaints lately about dogs running loose, please keep your dogs in or on a leash. If your dog is picked up there is an impound fee of $20 plus a $10 per day boarding fee, there is not a summons for a first offense, however if they are picked up again, the impound fee increases to $50 plus $10 per day board fee, and in addition a summons will be issued, requiring you to go to court, where a fine will be imposed as well as court fees. The dog license fee is $5.00 per year, please license your dogs. The Town of Keenesburg does hold a municipal court, we first issue a warning, with a seven day notice to correct any ordinance violation other than animal related (see above for animal violations). If the violation is not corrected in the time allowed, you will be issued a summons that will include a mandatory court appearance.
